QUALIFICATIONS

Dr. Chippendale spent 37 years conducting research and teaching in biological sciences and filling multiple administrative roles at the University of Missouri. He has a unique perspective about the planning, design, and operational needs of facilities for research and education in the life sciences in the 21st century.

Immediately prior to establishing Chippendale Consulting, LLC, Dr. Chippendale led the team that developed the Christopher S. Bond Life Sciences Center at the University of Missouri-Columbia during the period 1994-2004 (http://bondlsc.missouri.edu). In 2005-06, he served as its Interim Director.

Dr. Chippendale received his B.S. degree from the University of Manchester, England, his M.S degree from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Leeds, England.

At the University of Missouri, Dr. Chippendale held a faculty appointment in Entomology in the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources from 1968 to 2005. During this period he also served in various administrative positions including, Chair of the Department of Entomology, Coordinator for Entomology and Plant Pathology, Unit Leader for Plant Sciences, Interim Associate Director of the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station, and Senior Associate Dean, College Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. He completed his career at the University of Missouri as Interim Director of the Bond Life Sciences Center.

In 2000, Dr. Chippendale was recognized with the Mumford Award for exemplary contributions to the land-grant mission of the University of Missouri. In 1994, he was elected Fellow of the Entomological Society of America.

Dr. Chippendale’s membership in profession societies includes the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the Society of Sigma Xi, Gamma Sigma Delta, and the Entomological Society of America.

A summary of his administrative and academic accomplishments shows that he:

• Provided leadership for the planning and operations of $60 million Christopher S. Bond Life Sciences Center, which was opened at the University of Missouri in July 2004. He served as Chair of the Building Committee (1994-99), Chair of the Planning Committee, Interim Director (2000-03), Senior Associate Director (2004-05), and Interim Director (2005-06).
• Provided administrative leadership for the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station, the Plant Sciences Unit, and the Dept. of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources at the University of Missouri.
• Conducted research in insect physiology and biochemistry (1963-1999). Published peer-reviewed articles on insect seasonal development, insect nutrition, insect endocrinology, insect-plant relations, and the biorational control of insect pests.
• Authored or co-authored 117 refereed journal articles (1964-2002) in insect physiology and biochemistry, wrote nine book chapters or reviews, 11 proceedings of national and international symposia, and 12 miscellaneous publications. • Received research support from National Science Foundation, Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station, Midwest Plant Biotechnology Consortium, Missouri Center for Plant Science and Biotechnology, and Industry
• Supervised eight postdoctoral students, 11 Ph.D. degree students, and eight M.S. degree students.
